Altered Books
I learned from this project that you shouldn't be too dependent on a person that might not be in your life for too long because you never know when things may change. We were supposed to find inspiration from text, and I decided to pick lyrics from a song my boyfriend at the time wrote, "Let's burn the city together". Well, about three weeks passed and he broke up with me, leaving me behind with just my raw emotions and my altered book. I sort of began to feel like the book would sit on the table and taunt me with his words, and although I was proud of my work I felt like it was coming back to haunt me. So basically what I learned emotionally from my project was to pick good, sound sources of inspiration that I wouldn't regret later.
Aside from what I learned emotionally, I also learned that I should start working a little bit more slowly and start thinking about more ideas for my project. Things went well when I constructed it, and I never hit any major obstacles. However, I was done long before everybody else, which was unfortunate because I wanted to add more to it but there was nothing I could do to make it any better. So for the next three class periods I just sat and doodled on a piece of scratch paper. For my next project I wanna spend more time thinking about what I wanna do and constructing it rather than just sitting alone doing nothing.
